Planning a Chalet Holiday with Children

Before choosing a chalet, make a short list of the details that will shape your family’s stay. Share it with everyone travelling so the booking reflects the whole group.

1. Write down who sleeps where

Record adults, children’s ages at arrival and any infants. Match each person to a bed in the published room description. Check bunk arrangements and ask about suitability for younger children. For two families, agree how bathrooms and bedrooms will be shared. Ask about stairs, cot placement and any accessibility needs before confirming.

2. Choose lessons around your base

Request course times, teaching language, age and ability requirements from the ski school. Confirm the exact meeting point and collection arrangements. A resort-wide lesson listing does not mean the class starts beside your accommodation. Allow time for equipment collection and changing, and check seasonal lift and shuttle timetables. 3. Plan the transfer for people and luggage

Send the airport, flight numbers, arrival and departure times, passenger count and children’s ages. List suitcases, skis, pushchairs and other bulky items. Ask us to confirm suitable child seats and vehicle capacity with the operator. A seat count alone does not establish luggage capacity. Complimentary transfers apply only when expressly included in your written offer; otherwise request a quotation.

4. Read the full proposal together

Check property, dates, sleeping arrangements, included services and the accommodation amount. Tourist tax, the refundable security deposit and optional extras should be identified separately. Compare the amount due now, remaining payment and due dates with the agreement. Ask us to resolve any difference before you sign or pay.

5. Keep the final plan simple

Before departure, have the confirmed arrival instructions, host contact and transfer arrangements available to every responsible adult. Leave some unscheduled time for rest and changing weather. Confirm activity opening dates rather than assuming a winter programme runs throughout the year.
